Old School Training Challenge

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On April 24, 2009 1 Comment

During last week I was in Spain on my friends stag party and whilst I was there with no access to a gym I decided to do around 250 press ups. This was achieved by doing 50 press ups to start off with followed by 8 sets of 25 to complete the workout. Well the results I obtained for just doing this simple Old School Training Exercise amazed me. I woke up the next morning with my chest, arms and abs really sore. The press ups had really given my upper body a fantastic workout. I lift weights but over the last few weeks I hardly get any muscle soreness the next day as I did from doing a quick 250 press ups.

This got me thinking why don’t I do something that incorporates press ups into my next body fat reduction challenge. To be perfectly honest with you doing press ups bores me to death. So this next challenge is going to be slightly shorter than the last one. It’s going to last4 weeks, OK now that we have got the time duration of the challenge lets tell you what is involved in the Old School Training challenge.

Its simple I will be doing 250 press ups and 250 sits ups using my ab machine. I was contemplating doing the sits up on a floor to make it truly old school. But I really like using this machine and in the past when I have used it, it really does hit my abdominal area. I haven’t trained my abs at all this year. So I’m feeling like it’s about time that I started to do some ab training. I will be doing the press ups and sits ups every other day. The chart below tells you every press up and sit up that I do whilst on the Old School Training Challenge.

Whilst on the challenge I will be doing three 30 minute high intensity interval training sessions on my exercise bike, every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  This should hopefully help me even further to lose body fat. The Old school Training Workout will run from Saturday April 24th 2009 to Saturday June 6th 2009.

Weekly Weigh In April 24th 2009

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On April 24, 2009 No Comments

body fat percentage 22.8%When I got on my body fat scales this morning for my weekly weight in I was 100% certain that I had put on weight. For four out of the last seven days I have been drinking lots and lots of booze and eating lots and lots of food. This was because it was my best friends stag party and all the food and drink was free at the hotel, so I really went to town on it.

Well I am amazed to tell you that I lost a further 1 pound in body weight and my body fat percentage has gone done from 23.3% to 22.8%. I am absolutely thrilled with this weeks results. The only thing I can put this weeks weight loss down to, is my metabolism at the moment I’m eating lots of food and not putting any weight on. Doing lots and lots of cardio exercise for the past 50 days as also helped me immensely.

weekly weigh in 24409

Each week when I weigh myself I always look at myself naked in the mirror and I must say ‘m really beginning to like what I see. The man boobs are slowly turning into pecs and the beer belly seems to be getting smaller and smaller as the weeks go on. When I see results like this I know that I can reach my target of 10% body fat before the year is out. I know that I’ve got a long way to go till I reach my target. But if I keep doing what I’m doing I’m almost certain success will be guaranteed.

I’m starting my next body fat reduction challenge tomorrow whilst it won’t be nowhere near as difficult as the 50,000 calorie challenge. It will be a challenge whereby if I stick to it I will be able to lower my body fat percentage even further. Losing weight and body fat is all about tricking your body. The bodies natural survival instinct tells it to hold on the stored body fat. But my swapping your exercise routine and changing it slightly your body will not be able to get use to the same old routine. I’ll let you all know tomorrow what the next body fat reduction challenge is.

Back To The Real World

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On April 23, 2009 No Comments

body fat percentage 23.3%Last night I returned home from my friends stag party in Benidorm Spain. And I must say a good time was had by all. Free food and drink and the sun was shining what more do you want. But eating all this food and the calorie laden alcoholic beverages as probably taken its toll a little on my body fat loss progress.

I was eating three large meals a day, breakfast at 9am dinner at 1pm and lunch at 7.30pm. Combine these three large meals with the large quantity of beer I drank through the day and night and I do not expect seeing good results with tomorrows weekly weigh in. The only good thing about it, is at the moment is my metabolism seems to be operating at quite a fast rate. So I’m hoping this increase will help me and allow me not to put on too much fat this week.

Like I have said on numerous occasions though I’m in this for the long run, and I have promised myself to work hard and try to eat the right things. But I am not letting my dieting ruin my life. If I want the odd piece of pizza and pint of beer I will do it. It’s all about doing it in moderation. I over indulged  quite a bit over the last few days. Which I knew I would, I have been looking forward to the stag party all year and without all the over indulging, I would not of enjoyed myself half as much as I did. Sure I woke up with a bad head every morning due to drinking too much booze. But I had fun and that was the most important thing for me.

Today I getting right back to it, I’ve been drinking my whey protein shakes and eating the right foods. And I’m just about to go into my home gym for a good weight training session. Talking about exercising I did manage to do a little bit of exercise whilst I was away. I did 300 press ups on Sunday and an other 300 press ups on Tuesday. Hopefully these sessions will have helped with my progress slightly.
