Weekly Weigh In May 29th 2009
Before I stepped onto my body fat scales this morning I knew 100% that I had gained weight. The reasons behind this is because I’ve ate lots and lots of food and my workouts have suffered because I just haven’t had the energy this week for some reason to train hard like I usually do. I’m getting to know my body really well now and I know when I have gained or lost weight. I have just got on the scales and I have put on a whopping 6.4 pounds in body weight. But the good thing about this massive weight gain my body fat percentage has actually dropped down slightly from 22.4% to 22.1%.

The 22% body fat mark is really beginning to bug me now I just can’t seem to drop below this level. I’m happy that my body fat has dropped, but I’m not moving forward with this and it’s getting to me and sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel. Because to get the body that I so desperately want is going to take lots and lots of sacrifices. And over the long term have I got the will power and determination to succeed. I think I have but I’m beginning to question myself much more now than I use to.
I’ve got a countdown widget in the footer of the blog, which every few days I look at to motivate me. But each time I look at it, the days seems to be moving downwards very quickly. Don’t get me wrong I’ve still got plenty of time to get down to 10% body fat. But it’s going to take hard work and determination on my part if I’m to reach the target. It’s going to take me to a place were I haven’t been before so I really do need to start saying NO to my temptations.
The good thing about starting this weight loss blog though, is it’s keeping me motivated to keep losing body fat and weight. If this blog wasn’t here to motivate me, how quickly could I regain all the weight that I have lost so far this year. The answer to this question is a matter of weeks. I remember how I looked and felt then and I never want to return to those dark and gloomy days ever again. The clocks ticking and I’m wasting my life away having a body that I just don’t want. Its time to knuckle down and get motivated and finally get below 20% body fat once and for all.
My Russian Kettle Bells
Since the biggest loser started in the UK about 4 weeks ago I have been a massive fan and haven’t missed an episode of this years series so far. Some of the contestants are shifting some big numbers every week. What I have noticed is the contestants are constantly training with russian kettle bells. And the expert trainers on the show are telling us that training with kettlebells is one of the biggest fat burners you can do. A one hour session can burn off around 1500 calories, when I heard this I said to myself I’ve just got to get myself some russian kettle bells.
So the first place I looked was eBay, boy was I in for a stock they do not come cheap your looking at a few hundred quid for just a few kettlebells. So I narrowed my search down and found a guy who lives about 10 miles from me selling a set of four kettlebells a 16kg, 20kg, 24kg and 32kg plus the Kettlebell Bible book which will come in very handy. Because to be perfectly honest with you I know nothing about training with kettlebells. I was lucky enough to win the russian kettle bells and picked them up the same night. Here’s a picture showing you the four kettlebells and the training book.

I haven’t got round to using them yet, but I’ve been reading the book and I have found a few different kettlebell exercises that I think I can easily add into my workout program. The problem with my workout program at the moment is core exercises. Not many of the exercises I do hit the core, and your core is were the majority of your power comes from. To be honest my core is looking a little bit flabby at the moment so I really need to start hitting it hard.
This week diet wise has been another shocker I’m afraid, I managed to lose 4.4 pounds last week. But I will be very surprised if when I step onto my body fat scales in the morning for this weeks weekly weigh in that I haven’t regained all the weight and more. Not only have I been bad diet wise but my workouts have also suffered I just haven’t had the energy all week to train hard like I usually do. I’ve got less than 6 weeks to go till I go to vegas and at this rate I’m going to be going there looking worst than I do now. I’m going to write down a plan and stick to it, by writing it all down this should help to keep me motivated on this long and slow body fat reduction journey.
Bank Holiday Blowout
This weekend has not been good for my body fat loss, I have had one hell of a blowout on food and booze. It all started on Saturday night when I went out for drinks with friends and only got home the following morning at 5.30 am. I was drinking magners cider all night long which whilst it tastes delicious its absolutely laden in calories. It doesn’t end there whilst I was out I had a Chinese banquet which consisted of spring rolls, ribs, prawn crackers and much much more.
That Saturday’s blowout, most of Sunday was spent in bed recovering from the night before. But when I woke up I had a banging head from all the booze that I put away the night before. So I made myself a fry up which consisted of 4 sausages, 4 rashers of bacon and 4 rounds of bread. It was delicious and really helped to improve my hangover slightly. On Sunday night I watched UFC 98 which has I do with all UFC events I always get a takeaway.
The takeaway I got this time was a 14 inch meaty pizza with stuffed crust, 12 inch garlic bread with cheese and a portion of chips. I shared the meal with my girlfriend. But boy did I eat a lot of food. UFC 98 wasn’t the best event, but I think we have found someone who is going to dominate the light heavyweight division for a very long time in Lyoto Machida. He’s so elusive I just can’t see anyone beating him.
Now onto Bank Holidays Monday’s blowout. I started the day with a healthy breakfast. It was a fantastic day outside, so I did a bit of gardening then went for a bit of retail therapy with the girlfriend. Once we had finished shopping we went for a meal at a restaurant near us that offers 2 for 1 on all meals. We got the combo starter for two which consists of garlic bread, chicken wings, onion rings, fried mushrooms and potato wedges. After that I got a full rack of pork ribs with chips.
I’ve woke up this morning feeling really guilty with myself yet again. How am I ever going to get over my cravings for food. I will never reach my target of 10% body fat if I continue to eat the junk and drink lots of booze. I’ve got lots and lots of book and ebooks on health and fitness programs. I think I need to sit down and reeducate myself. I purchased some kettlebells off eBay last night so I am going to switch things up a little and change my workout slightly. I’ve heard some very good things about training with kettlebells.
