Back From Las Vegas Watching UFC 100

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On July 18, 2009 4 Comments

I arrived back home from Las Vegas yesterday morning and all yesterday was spent resting in bed recovering from the 10 hour flight home which was the worst flight that I have ever been on in my life. When we first got onto the plane we were told that the air conditioning wouldn’t start working till all the engines were running and we were in full flight. We were the first people to dock the plane and it took one hour till everyone was on and the plane was in the air. During this time it was like a sauna on the plane and all my clothes were wet with sweat which meant I had to stand up for the next hour waiting for my clothes to dry out.

Apart from the flight home and Michael Bisping getting knocked out everything else about the trip to Las Vegas was a success. I absolutely love Vegas there is so much to see and do and I will definitely be returning in early 2010. Next time though we are not going to go in July the weather was way too hot with the temperature reaching well over 110.

The main reason we went to Vegas was to watch UFC 100 so next time we go we will be able to go when the weather is sightly cooler. We stayed at the Stratosphere which to be perfectly honest with you was in a terrible location on the Las Vegas strip. It was the the hotel furthest away from Mandalay bay and took about one hour on the bus to get there due to the traffic on the strip. Whilst in Vegas we went to watch a few shows as well, watched a comedian called Carrot Top who’s act is based around props which he pulls out of boxes on the stage. Also watched Phantom which was absolutely brilliant at the Venetian. Didn’t get to do the Grand Canyon, but we have said we will definitely do it next time.

America is so cheap compared to England, so this is another reason why we are going to holiday there more. Most of my holidays in the past have been to Spain and Greece. But with the birth of the Euro and the terrible exchange rate it is just way too expensive now.

Friday and Saturday was spent at the UFC FAN EXPO, which was absolutely fantastic. We got loads of freebies and managed to meet loads of fighters. I also spent a small fortune on t shirts and other UFC stuff, the stuff for sale there was extremely cheap with t shirts selling for $30 which in the UK would cost you at least $70. Here’s a picture of me outside the UFC FAN EXPO.

Weekly Weigh In July 3rd 2009

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On July 3, 2009 3 Comments

body fat percentage 21.8%Its been one of the best weeks I had for many months, and I’m 100% certain that I’ve lost a least 5 pounds at this weeks weekly weigh in. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday I did the 3 day tuna and water diet that was a complete success and I managed to lose a mammoth 6.2 pounds in only 3 days. During the last few days I have gone back to normal eating and not gone mad on the calories otherwise the weight I lost on the tuna diet would of been for nothing.

I have just stepped onto my body fat scales and I am weighing in at 198.2 pounds which is a total weight loss for the week of 6.6 pounds. Part of me is extremely happy with this, but I have gone against my better judgments and had a rapid weight loss week. Losing weight for me is easy, I could easily lose this amount week in week out. But rapid weight is stupid and from now on I’m going back to the normal 2 to 3 pounds loss each week. But the best news of all this week is my body fat percentage has dropped from 23.3% to 21.8% in just one week, which is amazing I’m now below 22% for the very first time this year which I’m over the moon about.

weekly weigh in

To be honest I don’t really want to drop my body weight any more, I need to start working on maintaining my current body weight and building muscle mass. This will only be achieved through eating lots of protein and training to failure with weights. Over the last few weeks I haven’t been eating well at all, and every meal was mostly carbs and fats. Which has really set me back on the lowering of my body fat percentage. I’m back to getting a good protein source at every meal be it from food or from whey protein shakes. The only way I will build muscle is by eating more protein.

Next week’s weekly weigh in will be on Tuesday morning, because I’m off to Vegas on Wednesday to watch UFC 100. So if I train hard and watch what I eat I should see more good results. My aim is to get below the 20% body fat percentage mark my the end of July, I’ve just passed the half way stage on my body fat loss journey. I started this year at 30% body fat, which means I should be at 20% to still be on target to reach my goal. I’m at 21.8% which means I’m slightly behind on my target, I’m the type of person that doesn’t like failing so I’m stepping it up again. Once I return from Vegas you will see a different person, my body fat chart will be dropping week after week I guarantee you that.

Now Is The Time I Wish I Had A Gym Membership

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On July 1, 2009 1 Comment

body fat percentageFor the last couple of days here in the UK the weather has been fantastic and really hot, the only downside for me at the moment is working out. My workouts are done in my back garden in my 16ft x 10ft wooden shed. Whilst I’ve got all the equipment in there that I will ever need, home gym machines that can work every part of my body. I’m finding it very uncomfortable working out, because when its get hot it’s like a sauna in there. I usually workout at around 5 pm, I am now finding myself working out at around 8 to 9 pm when the weather is not as hot.

The good thing about having a good gym membership, the gym is air conditioned so you can workout when the weather is hot and still not feel hot and drained.  Sometimes I find myself saying, isn’t it about time you rejoined a gym. Because during the winter months it can get very cold in my home gym as well. But I love the time that my home gym saves me compared to going to a commercial gym. You’ve got the drive to and from the gym to add to the time you spend there, I also find myself doing more talking than actually working out. The beauty of my home gym is I can lock myself in there for one hour, listen to music on my ipod and workout with no distractions.

Except when the weather gets to hot or to cold, which at the moment it’s just too damn hot. I’m glad were having nice weather though, because my body always responds better to exercise and I always tend to lose weight quicker and easier during the hotter summer months. I’m back to normal eating now after the 3 day tuna and water diet, and I feel fantastic because I’ve lost those few extra pounds that I have regained over the past few weeks. This time I am going to keep them off and start moving forward with my fat loss journey again.

It Wednesday today which means its a workout session in my home gym, think I will train with my russian kettle bells outside tonight. Because there’s absolutely no way I will be able to go anywhere near my home multi-gym which is located deep in the depths of my home gym. I’ve only just recently starting working out with kettlebells, but I’m finding they are giving me a fantastic workout and they are really working my core. My core is were I need to work the most and the kettle bells are helping in building up my core strength.
