How Accurate Are My Body Fat Percentage Measurements
I have been doing everything right over the last few weeks, and I keep on losing weight. But I was gutted to find out that my body fat percentage had gone up from 24.4% to 24.5% whilst it was only a small increase. It was still an increase, so it got my mind thinking how accurate are my body fat measurements using my omron body fat analyzer scales. So I did a bit of searching and found a fantastic article telling me exactly how to use my body fat scales to get the most accurate reading.
You can view the article for yourself here, basically it tells you to totally discard the first reading because the electrodes are still cold. Take three more readings then take an average of these readings. It also tells you to weight yourself first thing in the morning without drinking any water. I have been doing this but I have woken up on some occasions with a dry mouth and taken a sip of water. I will need to stop doing this If I am to get the most accurate readings on my scales.
I will try this on this weeks weekly weight in on Friday hopefully I have been doing it totally wrong and I will get a reading which is lower and more accurate. It could go the other way though and I’m actually fatter than my body fat percentage has been reading. With all the training I’ve been doing though I highly doubt that I could be getting fatter.
I have just returned off a short vacation, but I’m back on track and today I had a really good weight training workout. I am still slightly behind on the 50,000 calorie in 50 days challenge. But I’m hoping to catch up and burn some extra calories over the weekend. This challenge is really eating in my time, so once I complete it. My next body fat challenge will be slightly less intense.
