My Fat Loss Progress So Far

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On October 25, 2009 No Comments

body fat percentage 20.3%I started my fat loss journey at the beginning of 2009, tipping the scales at 234 pounds with a body fat percentage of around 30%. But I didn’t start recording my body fat till January 30th, when I had quickly managed to lose around 20 pounds. So lets look into these numbers a little bit closer to see exactly what type of weight I have lost so far this year.

.

January 30th weekly weigh in

215 pounds at 26.5% body fat, this means I was carrying 59.9 pounds of fat

October 23rd weekly weigh in

194 pounds at 20.3% body fat, this means at last weeks weigh in I’m now carrying 39.3 pounds of fat.

So this means that out of the 21 pounds that I’ve lost since I started recording my results on the blog, I’ve lost 20.6 pounds of fat. This is fantastic news because, losing weight is the easy part its holding on to lean muscle mass that’s the hard part. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m now at the point were I’m seeing fantastic results week after week. Which is spurring me on to keep at it. I go on holiday to Orlando Florida on Friday, so that is going to really test my willpower to say no to all those delicious tasting buffets.

I live in the UK, and having traveled to the US on several occasion’s, I find that the food size portions are a lot bigger and I find it much easier to put on weight. If I can survive Florida without much of a weight gain I will be a very happy man. My plan at the moment is to keep cutting weight till my body fat percentage is at around 15%. Then I’m going to start eating a bit more food and start building lean muscle mass. In my twenties I was always a very lean 200 pounds, but it makes you realise just how much lean muscle mass you lose if you don’t do anything about it.

I’m at 194 pounds at the moment, which for a 6 foot 2 inch male is probably a little too low. But if I’m to see a drop in body fat I must keeping cutting weight. I’m so determined to reach my target of 10% body fat, and each day I’m looking at my countdown timer at the bottom of the blog, thinking its getting closer and closer each day. I hate failing and if I’m not near the 10% mark come the end of 2009 I will see my body fat loss journey as a failure and that is something I just don’t want to do. I’ve put too much effort into losing this fat and keeping it off, to fail at the last hurdle.

Back In The Fat Loss Zone

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On September 2, 2009 No Comments

weight loss blogDuring the last few weeks I’m feeling so focused and motivated to losing fat again. I’m definitely in the fat zone again. I’m becoming obsessed with shifting this body fat and keeping it off. My body fat percentage is dropping fast again I can feel it. I can easily fit into my jeans again, which just a few short weeks ago I couldn’t get into.

At last weeks weekly weigh I only lost 0.4 pounds but my body fat percentage dropped by over one percent. If I can lose 1% of body fat every week I willbe a very happy man. I reckon I’m on target this week to losing around 2 to 3 pounds in bodyweight. Hopefully all the weight I lose will be fat. I do not want to be losing lean muscle mass at this late stage of my body fat loss journey.

My biggest motivation at the moment is what being lean and healthy will mean to me. I’m not getting any younger I’m 35 years of age now. But why should I let middle age spread begin to set in. I look at some of my friends and they have really let themselves go and put on lots of weight. I do not want to be that type of person. I want to stay fit lean and healthy for as long as I can.

I have never been so focused I am determined to lower my body fat percentage and prove to all my readers, family and friends that I am a weight loss blogger that is true to his word and shows everyone that you can lose fat if you put in the hard work to achieve it. It’s so easy for me to start eating the junk food again and start slacking off in the gym. But I know if I do this I will quickly return to being 30% + body fat before I know it.

I absolutely love my food, but I know that once I achieve what I want to achieve on my fat loss journey I will be a much happier man than I am now. Sure junk food tastes good, but how long does this pleasure last. Its minutes, but looking the way you want to look will give you a lifetime of pleasure and satisfaction. It’s just two days away from my next weigh in and I will guarantee you now last I’ve lost weight, that’s how confident I am now at seeing good weight loss results week after week from now on.

Make Losing Weight Fun

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 15, 2009 No Comments

body fat percentageWhen you are trying to lose weight and lower your body fat percentage, you need to be doing things that you enjoy and are fun. I absolutely love playing golf, but during 2009 I haven’t played that many rounds. I just haven’t been able to find the time. Yesterday I played my first round in a very long time and the weather was fantastic. But it was one of the hardest courses I have ever played and every hole was a hill climb. Which was a little tiring but was fantastic for burning lots and lots of calories.

To be honest I wish I would of got myself a buggie, I know I wouldn’t of burnt the calories that I did. But my game would of been a lot better. I just didn’t have the energy to play to the best of my ability. I had a really good time though and burnt lots of calories in the process, which is what it should all be about. By doing exercise which is fun, you are more likely to stick at it and lose weight. I’ve let myself down though, I was feeling extremely hungry and we had friends round so we rang for an Indian takeaway. Which was absolutely delicious but was laden in calories.

Its Monday today and the start of a fresh week, so if I get straight back at it, I should be OK for next Fridays weekly weigh in. I need to get back at it quickly, because my target countdown is now under 200 days and the days seems to be counting down way too quickly for my liking. Ultimately I know that it is going to be a long and slow journey, and I just have to be patience with my fat loss. It will come if I make it fun and if I make a plan that I can easily stick to.

Losing weight is the easy part, but if you make losing it fun you are more likely to keep the weight off once you lose it. When I was on the 50,000 calorie challenge, looking back on it it was to much. So when I completed the challenge my exercise routines were dramatically reduced, because overall the challenge was too much and wasn’t fun. Which as resulted in poor results at the weigh in’s for several week’s now.
