Why Am I Writing Off 2009 Already

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On December 15, 2009 No Comments

There’s over two weeks left in 2009, but my mind keeps telling me to write off the year and start over again in 2010.  This year for me has had plenty of ups and downs. I’ve had months of success, then my fat loss as stalled for months. I am so much happier now than I was 12 months ago. This time last year I was over 40 pounds heavier and very unhappy with the way I looked.

I am still not 100% happy and I’ve got around 15 pounds of body fat to lose. But I know that in the not to distance future I will reach my goal and have six pack abs. My metabolism at the moment is running like a teenagers, this is all down to my short and intense weight training workouts and eating every two to three hours. Last week I managed to lose two pounds in body weight and I wasn’t that strict with my diet. I’m eating around 4,000 calories every day at the moment just to maintain weight. Which is a good thing considering the amount of food I’m eating at the moment.

There’s still over two weeks left in 2009, so I’m going to keep at it and try not to put any body fat on over the Christmas period. This is going to be hard considering the amount of parties and meals out I have planned over the Christmas period. Realistically my body fat percentage is going to be around the 19% mark come the end of 2009. I didn’t hit the target of 10% I set for myself, but I’ve lost 40 pounds of pure body fat. Which is a total success in my eyes, plus because I’m carrying less body weight its only going to get easier for me at this point on.

Over the next two weeks I’m going to eat lots and train hard so hopefully I may be able to pack on a bit of lean body mass which will help in lowering my body fat percentage. As most of my regular readers know I measure my body fat percentage on my body fat scales each week. Well my wonderful wife has just got me for Christmas a fantastic set of digital body fat calipers which I am going to throw into my measurement schedule each week.

One thing I will guarantee you in 2010 is I will tell you regularly how I’m progressing on my fat loss journey. I’m so disappointed when I search the Internet for weight loss blogs, with 99% of them not showing us how there doing on their journey. If you are gaining weight don’t be embarrassed, record it because I have found this blog to be a great motivation to my fat loss success. My friends and family read the blog, and when they look at my body fat chart and see it going up I get called every name under the sun. Which for me, is exactly what I need to keep moving forward.

Motivation To Lose Weight

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 16, 2009 3 Comments

motivation to lose weightSince I started this weight loss blog just a few short months ago , I have found it to be a great motivation for me to keep moving forward on my body fat loss journey. But over the past few weeks I have been letting myself and my readers down by not performing to the best of my abilities. I’m the type of person who always need motivation to lose weight, because I find it so easy to stray from my diet plan and eat foods that make me fat. The problem is I absolutely love my food. Exercise wise isn’t a problem for me because I love doing it, cardio exercise bores me. But lifting weights I really enjoy and get such a buzz feeling my muscles ache after every hard set that I complete.

But eating crap is setting me back, but I know that I need to move forward again and quickly. A big motivation to lose weight at the moment is my trip to Las Vegas to watch UFC 100. It’s only three weeks away and I am nowhere near the shape that I hoped to be in for this vacation. But my mindset is now telling me that I can not go to Vegas looking like this. I’m looking to lose around 2 pounds of fat every week for the next 3 weeks.

I know that this doesn’t sound like a lot, but6 pounds of fat will make a huge difference to my appearance and should help the results on my body fat chart to finally get better. Which if you look at them for the past several weeks is pathetic. This weight loss blogger is under-performing, and for me that just isn’t good enough. I’m using this trip to Vegas as my motivation to lose weight again.

Also if I start eating healthy again for the next 3 weeks, I’m more likely to not over eat once I get to Vegas. It’s going to be very hot, so I’m hoping that the heat will help in speeding up my metabolism which will stop me gaining weight. You never know I might actually come back from Vegas losing weight. I did in Spain, so why not in Vegas. Having something that motivates you to lose weight, is one of the biggest reasons that I have been able to lose over 30 pounds so far this year.

Make Exercise A Part Of Your Life

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On March 30, 2009 No Comments

body fat perecentage 23.2%Lots of you can probably relate on what I’m about to tell you. You’ve got that special occasion coming on and you do your best to lose weight. You make the mistake of leaving it to the very last minute. What I mean is you crash diet and try to lose weight as quickly as you can, I’ve been a yo-yo crash dieter for several years now. But I have finally come to my senses and said to myself enough is enough. I have done crash diets in the past were I have been able to lose over 20 pounds in under 4 weeks.

When I’m on a diet and trying to lose weight I always do exercise to improve the results that I get through dieting. But once I lose the weight I’m a fool and begin to start eating like I did before, and you guessed it I stop doing the exercise as well. Exercise is such an important part of your life not your for helping you to lose weight but for your overall health.

For most people we all have to go to work to pay the bills, so why don’t we make exercise a part of our lives and something that we must do to stay healthy and fit. At the moment I’m exercising like crazy because I want to see quick results. But I know that I can not continue at this pace for much longer. Not only will I start suffering from over training but I will begin to resent going into my home gym. Exercise should be fun, I really do enjoy lifting weights because after a few sets on each exercise you change the exercise and its feels like more of a variety. Whereas cardio training on my exercise bike for one hour can get a little boring. This will get easier once I complete the 50,000 calories in 50 day challenge because I’m going to reduce my cardio workouts to 30 minutes. But they will be much more intense, instead of doing them on a set level for the duration of the workout I will doing high intensity interval training which will burn a lot more calories which means I will be burning more fat in the long run.

Apart from my little nibbles in between meals and the odd blowout 2009 has been a good year for me so far. I’ve lost 35 pounds and lowered my body fat percentage, in fact I’m now below the weight I targeted for myself before I started my body fat loss journey. I’ve still got a long way to go though and this will only be achieved by continuing my diet and exercise plan.
