Lose 10 Pounds Quick

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 24, 2009 No Comments

lose 10 pounds quickAre you wanting to lose 10 pounds quick, well before you start there’s a few very important things that you need to know before you begin. Losing lots of weight quickly is not only bad for your general health and well being, but for long term weight loss success is not good.  To lose ten pounds quick you need to look at losing around two to three pounds each week. Four to five weeks is a good amount of time to set for yourself to lose this weight.

The best way to do it and to make sure that all the weight you losing is fat and not lean muscle mass. Is by eating a healthy and balanced diet which is high in protein and complex carbohydrates and low in fat. You will also need to do cardio exercise to burn the fat and lift weights to build lean muscle mass.  To know exactly what type of weight you are losing each week , you will need to measure your body fat percentage. The way I do it, is by weighing myself each week on a set of body fat scales. This method is so quick and easy and in just a matter of seconds you will have the information you require to know exactly what type of weight you are losing each week.

To lose 10 pounds quick drop your daily calorie intake by about 500 calories and burn off another 500 calories each day through exercise. This is a 7,000 calorie reduction each week, which equates to 2 pounds (3,500 calories = 1 pound). By doing this it will take you 5 weeks to achieve your goal. But to speed this up to just 4 weeks you will need to work slightly harder to ensure that you lose the extra 0.5 pounds each week. By reducing your calorie intake and exercising correctly the 10 pounds that you lose will mostly be fat.

Some people buy into the hype that you can lose 10 pounds quick, and when I mean quick just one week. This is possible but by losing this amount of weight so quickly most of the weight lost is lean muscle mass which means, you are actually fatter than before you lost the ten pounds. If you have got ten pounds to lose, my advice is stay away from rapid weight loss diets and programs that promote extreme weight loss.

There’s A Rat Living Under My Home Gym

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 20, 2009 3 Comments

Regular readers of My Body Fat will know that my home gym is a 16ft x 10 ft wooden shed in my back garden. Behind my back garden is a small brook and open fields. Which brings plenty of wildlife into my back garden. But today I have found that I have an unwanted guest living under my home gym, it’s a rat which during today has been feeding on the bird seed which is falling down from my bird feeder.

Here’s a photo showing a squirrel feeding from the bird feeder and the rat feeding on the bird seed which is falling to the ground.

I know that the rat has found a nice new and cosy home under my shed, but it’s vermin and it’s going to be evicted, having measured the gap under my shed. I have just been to B & Q for some wood and nails to seal up the space around my shed. I’ve cut the wood into the correct lengths and stained it and it’s now ready to be nailed on. I’m going to make sure that the rat is gone first before I seal it up. I’m going to do this by spraying under the shed with the jet washer, once I’m sure the rat’s gone. It’s time to seal it up and say goodbye to this rat’s cosy new home.

Here’s a picture of the strips of wood I’m using to seal it up, I’ve just sealed up the small shed.

Old School Training Challenge

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On April 24, 2009 1 Comment

During last week I was in Spain on my friends stag party and whilst I was there with no access to a gym I decided to do around 250 press ups. This was achieved by doing 50 press ups to start off with followed by 8 sets of 25 to complete the workout. Well the results I obtained for just doing this simple Old School Training Exercise amazed me. I woke up the next morning with my chest, arms and abs really sore. The press ups had really given my upper body a fantastic workout. I lift weights but over the last few weeks I hardly get any muscle soreness the next day as I did from doing a quick 250 press ups.

This got me thinking why don’t I do something that incorporates press ups into my next body fat reduction challenge. To be perfectly honest with you doing press ups bores me to death. So this next challenge is going to be slightly shorter than the last one. It’s going to last4 weeks, OK now that we have got the time duration of the challenge lets tell you what is involved in the Old School Training challenge.

Its simple I will be doing 250 press ups and 250 sits ups using my ab machine. I was contemplating doing the sits up on a floor to make it truly old school. But I really like using this machine and in the past when I have used it, it really does hit my abdominal area. I haven’t trained my abs at all this year. So I’m feeling like it’s about time that I started to do some ab training. I will be doing the press ups and sits ups every other day. The chart below tells you every press up and sit up that I do whilst on the Old School Training Challenge.

Whilst on the challenge I will be doing three 30 minute high intensity interval training sessions on my exercise bike, every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  This should hopefully help me even further to lose body fat. The Old school Training Workout will run from Saturday April 24th 2009 to Saturday June 6th 2009.
