Bank Holiday Blowout
This weekend has not been good for my body fat loss, I have had one hell of a blowout on food and booze. It all started on Saturday night when I went out for drinks with friends and only got home the following morning at 5.30 am. I was drinking magners cider all night long which whilst it tastes delicious its absolutely laden in calories. It doesn’t end there whilst I was out I had a Chinese banquet which consisted of spring rolls, ribs, prawn crackers and much much more.
That Saturday’s blowout, most of Sunday was spent in bed recovering from the night before. But when I woke up I had a banging head from all the booze that I put away the night before. So I made myself a fry up which consisted of 4 sausages, 4 rashers of bacon and 4 rounds of bread. It was delicious and really helped to improve my hangover slightly. On Sunday night I watched UFC 98 which has I do with all UFC events I always get a takeaway.
The takeaway I got this time was a 14 inch meaty pizza with stuffed crust, 12 inch garlic bread with cheese and a portion of chips. I shared the meal with my girlfriend. But boy did I eat a lot of food. UFC 98 wasn’t the best event, but I think we have found someone who is going to dominate the light heavyweight division for a very long time in Lyoto Machida. He’s so elusive I just can’t see anyone beating him.
Now onto Bank Holidays Monday’s blowout. I started the day with a healthy breakfast. It was a fantastic day outside, so I did a bit of gardening then went for a bit of retail therapy with the girlfriend. Once we had finished shopping we went for a meal at a restaurant near us that offers 2 for 1 on all meals. We got the combo starter for two which consists of garlic bread, chicken wings, onion rings, fried mushrooms and potato wedges. After that I got a full rack of pork ribs with chips.
I’ve woke up this morning feeling really guilty with myself yet again. How am I ever going to get over my cravings for food. I will never reach my target of 10% body fat if I continue to eat the junk and drink lots of booze. I’ve got lots and lots of book and ebooks on health and fitness programs. I think I need to sit down and reeducate myself. I purchased some kettlebells off eBay last night so I am going to switch things up a little and change my workout slightly. I’ve heard some very good things about training with kettlebells.
Four Weeks Of Fat Loss Wasted
Over the past 2 weeks I have put on a combined weight gain of 5.8 pounds, so to lose this weight is going to take me at least another 2 weeks. So after 4 weeks I’m back to the point were I was at 4 weeks ago. By gaining weight and not seeing results week after week you are extending your weight loss journey longer than it should be. A big part of the reason why I have put this weight back on is due to overeating and lack of motivation.
I’ve set myself a target of getting my body fat percentage down to 10% before the end of 2009. A big part of me is saying you’ve still got plenty of time to reach your target. Why don’t you eat that bar of chocolate or drink that pint of cider. And that is exactly what I’ve been doing. I’m not stupid I know how I have put this 5.8 pounds back on it’s eating too many calories each day and also a reduction in my cardio workouts.
When I was on the 50,000 calories in 50 days challenge I was burning over 1000 calories a day through exercise. But I have completed that challenge and my cardio workouts have reduced dramatically. If I look at the way I’ve been eating over the last two weeks it’s reminds me of the way I use to eat and that’s now I got fat in the first place. I never want to return to those dark and gloomy days when I use to grab at my waistline and all that was there was a big handful of ugly fat.
The only way to get back on track is to start eating less again and exercising more. I’m so happy with my exercising at the moment. I’m actually looking forward to each workout. I’ve nearly finished the old school training challenge then it’s back to my heavy and intense weight training sessions. If you look at my body fat chart for the last three weeks you will notice that my body fat percentage is going down. So realistically I shouldn’t be moaning about this weight gain. Hopefully most of the weight gain is muscle which will help me to achieve my body fat target a lot quicker.
My 3 Day Diets
At the moment I’m on two types of diet, one were I eat fairly healthy and try to stick to my diet plan the best that I can and the other one which I call my weekend 3 day diets. I’m certain there’s a lot of people out there who can relate to what I’m saying you eat fantastically all week, but on Friday, Saturday and Sunday your dieting go’s totally out of the window. The biggest reason for me being bad over the weekend is probably my social life and not being at work. When I’m at work I usually prepare all my food the night before. So I eat what I prepare which is usually good healthy food rich in protein, complex carbohydrates and low in fat.
Its Saturday today and I’m off in to Liverpool with the better half for drinks and a meal. When I go into Liverpool I always get myself a mixed grill from the same restaurant. This meal is calorie laden but the good thing about it is, its very high in protein which will help with my lean muscle mass growth. At the moment as well I’m loving Koppaberg fruit cider, it’s delicious and comes in many different flavors, my favorites are mixed summer fruits and cherry. They come in half litre bottles which again means they are laden in calories.
My weekend 3 day diet plan is doing my fat loss progress no good at all, but my life is going out and enjoying myself and a large amount of time this means going out eating delicious food and drinking lots and lots of alcoholic beverages. I know what I need to do to reduce my body fat percentage and I still firmly believe I will get to my body fat target of 10% before the end of the year. Will I succeed doing what I’ve been doing over the last few weeks , not a chance.
I know that I need to make sacrifices and maybe drink and eat less but these are pleasures in my life that I enjoy take them away and what am I left with. On the other hand though, since I have lost the 30 pounds plus this year my life has improved dramatically and I am enjoying going out meeting people again. Something that I absolutely dreaded at the start of the year. It’s all about finding that middle road, one were you can still enjoy yourself but still succeed with your weight and fat loss goals.
