2010 Not Good So Far

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On January 7, 2010 No Comments

2010 so far hasn’t been too good for me, on news years day we flew out to Spain for a 4 nights all inclusive break. Sounds good doesn’t it, our flight was supposed to be at 7.15 am on new years day, so when we arrived we were surprised to find out that our flight had been cancelled and put back till 4 pm the same day. No one from the airline or travel agents contacted us to tell us this, bear in mind that this flight cancellation happened back in November.

It was 5am, and our flight was now at 4pm. So we now had 11 hours to kill before our flight. We were thinking about getting a taxi back home then returning, but because it was new years day it was going to cost us close to 200 pounds to do this. So we just gritted our teeth, and tried to get a few hours sleep at the airport. I don’t know about you, but the only place I can fall asleep is in a bed. Boredom started to set in waiting for the flight, so we did what most people do in times of boredom we eat some junk food washed down with a few beers.

Finally we taken off at 4pm and arrived in Spain just under 3 hours later. Because their timezone was one hour in front of us the time was now 8pm and we had lost a full day of our holiday. We got on the coach to our hotel, just our luck we was the last drop off. Arrived at the hotel at 9.30pm and were told that new years day dinner had stopped being served at 9pm. At this point we were really hungry, so we dropped off our cases and went into Benidorm town for a meal and a few beers.  For the next four days we had a fantastic time and the weather was fantastic compared to cold and snowy England.

On the morning of departure, we got picked up a 8am and arrived at the airport at 9.30am, our flight was pencilled in for 12 noon. But we quickly found out that England was 8 inches deep in snow. We were flying to Manchester, and the airport was closed. We were delayed till 8pm, great another 8 hour flight delay. This quickly extended to 12 hours and we set off for England at midnight. Arrived back in England at 2am, feeling really tired. It got even worse, because of the amount of snow. There were hardly any taxis, so we walked about half a mile to the train station, there was a train at 5.30am which would drop us off about 3 miles from our house. We had no other option so we got our tickets. So we then had to wait another 3 hours for the train, We boarded the train and arrived at our destination at 6.15am. At this point the snow was coming down again and it was pitch black. I was walking in snow that was around 8 inches deep carrying 2 suitcases.

It got better, we rang around for a taxi and couldn’t get one till 7.30 am.  About one mile down the road. There were buses that ran to were we lived. So we painfully walked to the bus station to find out that the first bus was only at 8am. It was now 7am and we were freezing cold and covered in snow, plus I had to be in work at 8am. Lucky for us a taxi driver pulled up at 7.15am and gave us a lift back to our home. It was now 7.30am and I had to start getting ready for work. I rang my boss, to see if I could take yesterday off work. But he said no need to book it off, you go to sleep we need someone to cover nights Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The snow has caused lots of problems at work, so the Heinz plant were I work had to be manned 24 hours a day.  I hate nights and haven’t done a night shift now for over 3 years.

That’s my start to 2010, its not been to good so far. Plus my diet and exercise has really gone down hill so far this year. I did manage to get in a short 30 minute weight training session yesterday but my heart was just not in it. Hopefully I can get myself back on track next week, my next plan is a bulking up phase and try to gain  around 20 pounds of lean muscle mass.

Back From My Honeymoon

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On November 15, 2009 No Comments

I arrived back in the UK from my wonderful wedding and honeymoon in Orlando Florida. I had an absolutely fantastic time and a good time was had by everyone. Fourteen of our closest family and friends went and everyone agreed that it was a a fantastic holiday. Because I was only getting married at the end of the first week I really watched what I ate. Because having tried on my 34 inch waist trousers a few weeks earlier I know that I needed to keep my weight down if I was to fit in them comfortably. You don’t want to be wearing trousers that are too tight on your wedding day do you.

The wedding went fantastic and afterwards we went for a fantastic meal at the Capital Grille on International drive, I had the 22 oz steak which tasted delicious. We arrived back in the UK at 8am yesterday morning and I was feeling a little tired having had no sleep on the plane. But before I could go to bed I had to pick up my wife’s mothers dog from the local kennel. Its a boxer and its a little on the wild side, once it got in the car it went a little crazy and was really excited to be back on its way home. The back seat is now full of dog hair, so I will need to hover it out once I fell up to the job.

When we got the dog home, it was time to get a few hours sleep before we went off to see UFC 106 at Manchester. The event went really well with both Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy doing really well. At one point I really thought Bisping was going to get beat, but he did a fantastic job in the end and pounded out a referees stoppage.

My favorite fight of the night was Mike Swick vs Dan Hardy, almost everyone thought that Swick was going to beat Hardy easily. But what a lot of people don’t realise is Hardy is a lot more experienced than people think, hes only had a few fights in the UFC, but hes had lots of fights in other organisations. Hardy was just too strong in the end, and had Swick hurt on a few occasions. Hes now got a title shot at Georges St Pierre, which will be a very hard fight. If he can keep the fight standing he will win, but its highly likely that hes going to be taken down because St Pierre is such a fantastic wrestler.

My least favorite fight of the night was the main event Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera, its time to call it a day randy. You won the fight, but boy was it boring. It was a good game plan, but its not the type of style of fight that people want to see as a main event.

Now that I’ m back I’m going to get back in the gym today, and start eating a little bit healthier again,. The second week in Orlando I ate lots of junk, but I was on honeymoon so I’ve got a good excuse. I did exercise every other morning which I was very happy about.  The hotel did have a gym but it was all cardio machines with just a few very light dumbbells. Which at this stage on my body fat loss journey is not for me. Its all about building lean muscle mass and losing fat. Which over the last few weeks I’ve been able to achieve. It’s time to knuckle down and start lowering my body fat percentage again.

My First Three Days In Orlando

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On November 2, 2009 No Comments

The first three days in Orlando have been fantastic so far and I’m really pleased with the way I’m eating food. We have been going mostly to all you can eat buffet meals. But so far I’ve resisted all temptations and not had anything that is laden in calories. To be perfectly honest with you I think I’ve losing weight, so I may need to up my calorie intake. All I had to eat yesterday was a good size breakfast consisting of eggs, beans , omelette and fruit. I had two protein bars in the afternoon and at around 7 pm I had chicken, steak and rice. Not a lot of food, but I’m so scared of undoing all the good work I’ve put in over the last 8 weeks.

So far we been to two shopping malls, and we went to the wonderful seaworld yesterday. We rode on the mantra and the kraken which was really good, but the best part of the day was the killer whale show it was fabulous. It was so good it almost made me cry. What a job those guys have got, beats getting up and fixing machines at an heinz factory for a living. Here are a few pictures I took of the killer whale show that I took yesterday.

Got a busy day planned for today, going viewing the wedding chapel were me and my beautiful girlfriend are getting married in on Thursday 5th November, then we are going into downtown Orlando to get our marriage license, which we are told is the easiest part of the whole thing. Then its off to the shopping malls again to finally get all our shopping over and done with. I didn’t go all the way here to shop, I went here to get married and have fun.

Exercise wise I’ve been 500 push ups every other morning using the excellent perfect push ups machines, this device is fantastic at giving your body a total body workout. I think if I carry on eating the way I have been and completing my push ups every other morning I should be able to keep my body fat percentage under the 20% mark till I get home. If I can achieve that I will be a very happy man, because I know that I can then knuckle down and get near my target of 10% body fat.
