My Pre and Post Workout Shakes

pre workout shakesWhen you are training hard which I’m certain you will be doing if your main aim is to lower your body fat percentage you will need to make sure that you are getting all the right nutrients that will allow you to prepare your muscles ready for exercise and also repair them after a hard session in the gym.

I like to have the same workout shake before and after a weight training workout. I have a pre workout shake 1 to 1.5 hours before a workout. Then almost immediately after I finish my workout. I have a post workout shake, the shakes that I make are so quick and easy to prepare and in my eyes tastes absolutely delicious.

post workout shakeThe Ingredients that I use to make my protein shakes are 500 ml of semi skimmed milk, a banana and 50 grams of whey protein. I find that the best whey protein is 90+ Protein by a company called Nutrisport. Which having just looked at the label is only about 8 miles from were I live, its a small world.

All I do is simply put all the ingredients into my blender and blend them together for around ten seconds. Then drink the contents straight from the blender, then I always make sure that I wash and rinse out the blender immediately after use otherwise if you leave it till later it is much harder to clean out.

Pre and post workout shakes are a cheap, quick and convenient way of getting your protein requirements. When you main goal is to lose body fat and gain muscle you must always ensure that you are getting enough protein in your diet so that this can be achieved. Whey protein powder has never been so cheap and the companies are battling it out with each other trying to get your business. I find that the more you buy the better deals that you can get. I’m paying less for my whey protein now than I was 10 years ago. Let’s hope that I can say the same thing 10 years from now.

I remember when most of the protein shakes that you could buy only came in one  flavour which was vanilla and you had to fight with yourself just to drink them. Not any more there are so many different flavours out there to choose from, ranging from strawberry right through to chocolate mint. What ever flavour you decide to go with, personally I don’t think you can beat strawberry and chocolate and both make absolutely fantastic pre and post workout shakes.
