Weekly Weigh In June 12th 2009

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 12, 2009 1 Comment

body fat percentage 23.8%Another week which has flown by in 2009 with each week passing so quickly I am really beginning to get worried about reaching my target of 10% body fat come the end of 2009. This was another weekly weigh in which I wasn’t looking forward to but like I said yesterday it’s just something that all good weight loss blogs should do. We are showing our readers how we are performing, in my case under performing. Whilst I haven’t been that bad food wise and I have been been training hard during my workouts. I have a sneaky feeling that my body fat percentage has probably gone up again. Why, because I’ve not been drinking my protein shakes and not eating a good source of protein at every meal.

Having just stepped onto my body fat scales I was right, my body fat percentage has gone up from 23.1% to 23.8%, but I’ve managed to lose 0.4 pounds. Now do you see the importance of not judging your progress on the weight that you lose each week. Losing weight is easy, losing fat is ten times harder which I am finding out for myself. I was so uneducated before I started this weight loss blog and always judged my progress on weight lost. How wrong was I, your body fat percentage measurement is what matters most when you step onto the scales for your weekly weigh in’s.

weekly weigh in

I’ve learned a valuable lesson this week, I can not drop my daily protein intake otherwise I will lose lean muscle mass and my body fat percentage will rise. Which is something I do not want to be doing, looking at my body fat chart, you can see that my resting metabolism is dropping due to my body fat percentage rising. This is not good and this is the reason why most of us get fat in the first place.

This week I plan on training hard with weights I may do some cardio, because I’ve reduced my cardio workouts quite a lot in recent weeks. So I need to step them up again and start shifting this unwanted ugly body fat. I’m going to also make sure that I am getting a good source of lean protein with every meal, be it from a food source such as chicken or fish or a protein shake. By doing this it will help my body to build muscle which will help to start reducing my body fat percentage again.

The Biggest Loser UK Should Change Its Name

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 10, 2009 No Comments

the biggest loser uk 2009Here in the UK The Biggest Loser is currently running and it has had me glued to my TV for over 5 weeks now. But what happened at last weeks weigh in was absolutely disgusting in my eyes. I have never watched The Biggest Loser UK before, so I can’t comment on past seasons. But the way the format is now naming the show The Biggest Loser is false advertising in my opinion.

At last weeks weigh in the person who had lost the most weight Mark was voted out. Why because he had lost the most weight during the competition, I understand at the end of the day that’s it’s competition. But how can you send someone home who is working there butt off week after week and losing weight. In my eyes this is absolutely disgusting because it is giving out all the wrong signals to the viewers. In a show like this the people who lose the most weight should be rewarded not sent home.

The team format SUCKS BIG TIME, because every week the strongest competitors are going to be sent home. So basically your left with the people who are not losing as much weight and are not working has hard to lose it. How can you be crowned the Biggest Loser when really you only got to win it because you were a weaker contestant and wasn’t chosen to be voted out because you keep getting low numbers at the weigh in’s. The person who go’s home each week should be the person with the least percentage weight loss it’s as simple as that. Or perhaps one of the bottom two and then you take their combined weight loss and send the person with the least amount of total weight loss home. Last week’s team challenge wasn’t fair either. The black team had the chance to use every person in the challenge. Whilst the blue could only use two due to weight restrictions on climbing the wall. If you are going to set challenges you need to at least make them a fair challenge for both teams.

Mark was sent home on Monday, I understand he wasn’t as well liked as some of the others, because they thought he was arrogant and a little big headed. But he was losing lots and lots of weight week after week and was an inspiration for the viewers who are trying to lose weight. Sending someone home for losing weight is JUST NOT RIGHTin my opinion and sends out the wrong message to people watching the TV show. Yesterday Tuesday was the first day that I missed the show. Why because I am still angry and I don’t see the point of wasting my time on something that is not right. Whoever is crowned The Biggest Loser UK 2009 are they worthy winners, with the current team format in place we will ever know. But with Mark now gone it’s highly unlikely.

The Ups And Downs Of A Weight Loss Blog

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On June 8, 2009 1 Comment

weight loss blogWhen I first started this weight loss blog just a few short months ago. I was so motivated and focused to start losing weight again and lowering my body fat percentage. In the past I have always found it so easy to lose weight. So easy if I put my mind to it I could easily lose 10 pounds within one week, which is a lot when you weight around 200 pounds. That was the old stupid me and I’ve learnt so much in these short months as a weight loss blogger.

This weight loss blog is more about fat loss and lowering my body fat percentage. I have never before gone on a diet and based my weight loss around my body fat and because of this I thought that losing fat and getting my body fat percentage down to 10% would be a piece of P***. Boy how wrong was I, losing fat is so much more difficult than just losing weight. Losing weight is easy for me because all I need to do is drop my daily calorie intake and exercise and there you have it weight loss is guaranteed. But fat loss is a totally different ball game. There’s so much you need to do to make sure that the weight you are losing is all fat. You need to be eating the right foods and exercising the correct way and making sure you don’t drop your calorie intake by too much.

When I started this weight loss blog I was on a run losing weight and lowering my body fat percentage week after week. Over the last 6 weeks or so I’ve hit a brick wall. That brick wall being my will power to say no to my temptations. Well I’m pleased to tell you that I am now focused again and I WILL move forward with my fat loss journey again.

I know that it isn’t going to be easy and it’s going to be slow journey, but if I stick at it I will succeed. One things for sure if I carry on the way I’ve been doing over the last 6 weeks I WILL DEFINATELY NOT SUCCEED. This weight loss blog will document all the ups and downs that I have on achieving the body that I’ve always wanted. I will outline to you exactly were I go wrong and what works for me on my way to having a body fat percentage of 10%.
