My Fat Loss Progress So Far
I started my fat loss journey at the beginning of 2009, tipping the scales at 234 pounds with a body fat percentage of around 30%. But I didn’t start recording my body fat till January 30th, when I had quickly managed to lose around 20 pounds. So lets look into these numbers a little bit closer to see exactly what type of weight I have lost so far this year.
.
January 30th weekly weigh in
215 pounds at 26.5% body fat, this means I was carrying 59.9 pounds of fat
194 pounds at 20.3% body fat, this means at last weeks weigh in I’m now carrying 39.3 pounds of fat.
So this means that out of the 21 pounds that I’ve lost since I started recording my results on the blog, I’ve lost 20.6 pounds of fat. This is fantastic news because, losing weight is the easy part its holding on to lean muscle mass that’s the hard part. I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m now at the point were I’m seeing fantastic results week after week. Which is spurring me on to keep at it. I go on holiday to Orlando Florida on Friday, so that is going to really test my willpower to say no to all those delicious tasting buffets.
I live in the UK, and having traveled to the US on several occasion’s, I find that the food size portions are a lot bigger and I find it much easier to put on weight. If I can survive Florida without much of a weight gain I will be a very happy man. My plan at the moment is to keep cutting weight till my body fat percentage is at around 15%. Then I’m going to start eating a bit more food and start building lean muscle mass. In my twenties I was always a very lean 200 pounds, but it makes you realise just how much lean muscle mass you lose if you don’t do anything about it.
I’m at 194 pounds at the moment, which for a 6 foot 2 inch male is probably a little too low. But if I’m to see a drop in body fat I must keeping cutting weight. I’m so determined to reach my target of 10% body fat, and each day I’m looking at my countdown timer at the bottom of the blog, thinking its getting closer and closer each day. I hate failing and if I’m not near the 10% mark come the end of 2009 I will see my body fat loss journey as a failure and that is something I just don’t want to do. I’ve put too much effort into losing this fat and keeping it off, to fail at the last hurdle.
