I’m Back Blogging After 6 Months Off

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On August 17, 20104 Comments

This is my first blog post in over 6 months, during this time I have been spending my time doing other stuff. I’ve still been lifting weights and exercising. But my diet plan hasn’t been 100% clean.

The reason I started this blog was to document my progress and finally get my body fat percentage down to about 10%. This blog is over 18 months old now and I haven’t achieved my goal. This just isn’t good enough, but I’m not the only one. Having just checked out a few of the most popular weight loss blogs on the Internet, I’m still amazed to find that some are still blogging every day, but still not achieving there weight loss goals.

I have decided to start blogging again, because I have found this blog to be a tremendous motivation tool for me to start losing fat again. Like I mentioned earlier, during 2010 I’ve been mainly lifting weights and this has allowed my muscle mass to increase. I’m walking around at around 225 pounds at the moment, with a body fat percentage of around 22%+. This is only an estimate though.

To be perfectly honest with you I’m too scared to step onto my body fat scales, because I know I won’t like what is staring back at me. Yesterday I started eating healthy again, and have started to cut back on the calories. My main aim is to cut some weight and hopefully the weight that I lose will all be fat.

I’ve had several emails from people asking me when am I going to start my Friday weekly weigh in’s again. Well I plan on starting these again in the next few weeks.  Because these weigh in’s were a fantastic motivation for me, because I was embarrassed to show pictures of the scales each week that shown poor results. This is because I let all my family and friends know that I had started this fat loss blog. And each week if I was seeing poor results at the weekly weigh in’s I would get it in the neck off friends and family members that I was slacking.

Like everyone else, I hate failing. So by starting blogging again hopefully  this will help me to get back on track with my fat loss journey.

Weekly Weigh In December 18th 2009

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On December 18, 2009 No Comments

body fat percentage dec 18I’ve woke up this morning in a fantastic mood, I’m off work today and I’m off out into town for plenty of Christmas beer. In the UK today is called mad Friday, this is because its the last working Friday before Christmas and everyone usually finishes work early and go’s straight out into town. Today is twice as busy as Christmas eve and new years eve put together. So I’m really looking forward to enjoying myself and letting my hair down.

This week as been quite good, I’ve stuck to my diet plan about 80% and stuck to my exercise plan 100%. My wife owns an hairdressing business and all of her clients are buying her boxes of chocolates for Christmas and guess who ends up eating them every Christmas you guessed it me. I’ve slowly finished off one big box, the good news is I didn’t eat them all at once, I ate a little bit from the tin each night. Too be honest though I am not that worried because I can feel like I’ve actually lost more weight this week. I can’t believe the speed that my metabolism is running at, at the minute. I can honestly say I’m eating more food than ever and still losing weight.

OK its time to step onto the body fat scales for this weeks weekly weigh in, excellent news I’ve lost 1.8 pounds in body weight and dropped my body fat percentage by 1.1%. All in all I’m happy with that, two more weekly weigh ins to go in 2009. Then I’m going to write a blog post on the success I’ve had in 2009, and all about the ups and downs.

Next year though, I’m going to have even better success than I’ve had this year, I’m going to get six pack abs and finally reach my target body fat percentage of 10%. I’m looking a little skinny fat at the moment, so I will probably keep cutting weight till I get to 180 pounds, then go on a muscle building phase and look to gain 2 pounds on the scales each week till my body weight is back up to 200 pounds. Then reevaluate my progress from there, one things for sure I will not be at 180 pounds (12 stone 12 pounds) for long, its way to light for a 6 foot 2 inch man. I think 200 pounds ( 14 stone 4 pounds ) is the weight I’m looking to be, not to light and not to heavy.

Why Am I Writing Off 2009 Already

By Keith | Weight Loss Blog | Body Fat Percentage On December 15, 2009 No Comments

There’s over two weeks left in 2009, but my mind keeps telling me to write off the year and start over again in 2010.  This year for me has had plenty of ups and downs. I’ve had months of success, then my fat loss as stalled for months. I am so much happier now than I was 12 months ago. This time last year I was over 40 pounds heavier and very unhappy with the way I looked.

I am still not 100% happy and I’ve got around 15 pounds of body fat to lose. But I know that in the not to distance future I will reach my goal and have six pack abs. My metabolism at the moment is running like a teenagers, this is all down to my short and intense weight training workouts and eating every two to three hours. Last week I managed to lose two pounds in body weight and I wasn’t that strict with my diet. I’m eating around 4,000 calories every day at the moment just to maintain weight. Which is a good thing considering the amount of food I’m eating at the moment.

There’s still over two weeks left in 2009, so I’m going to keep at it and try not to put any body fat on over the Christmas period. This is going to be hard considering the amount of parties and meals out I have planned over the Christmas period. Realistically my body fat percentage is going to be around the 19% mark come the end of 2009. I didn’t hit the target of 10% I set for myself, but I’ve lost 40 pounds of pure body fat. Which is a total success in my eyes, plus because I’m carrying less body weight its only going to get easier for me at this point on.

Over the next two weeks I’m going to eat lots and train hard so hopefully I may be able to pack on a bit of lean body mass which will help in lowering my body fat percentage. As most of my regular readers know I measure my body fat percentage on my body fat scales each week. Well my wonderful wife has just got me for Christmas a fantastic set of digital body fat calipers which I am going to throw into my measurement schedule each week.

One thing I will guarantee you in 2010 is I will tell you regularly how I’m progressing on my fat loss journey. I’m so disappointed when I search the Internet for weight loss blogs, with 99% of them not showing us how there doing on their journey. If you are gaining weight don’t be embarrassed, record it because I have found this blog to be a great motivation to my fat loss success. My friends and family read the blog, and when they look at my body fat chart and see it going up I get called every name under the sun. Which for me, is exactly what I need to keep moving forward.

Weekly Weigh In December 11th 2009

body fat percentage 21.2 %Not long left now in 2009, this year has had its ups and downs for me regarding fat loss. But starting this weight loss blog as been brilliant because its keeping me motivated to keep moving forward on my body fat loss journey. I think without this blog I wouldn’t be at were I am today in terms of fat loss and my body fat percentage reading. One things for sure I wouldn’t being doing a weekly weigh in like I have been doing every Friday in 2009.

I am getting a little bit bored doing my weekly weigh ins each week, but as a weight loss blogger I think you need to show your readers that you are doing something to lose fat. I spend a lot of time reading other weight loss blogs, hoping to find out how there doing in there weight loss journeys. But most of them just don’t show us there results. Which as a reader is very disappointing.

At the moment I’m just using this blog to record my weekly weigh ins each week. Because at the moment life is extremely hectic. But I’m going to start blogging about much more in 2010. I know that I’m not going to reach my target body fat percentage of 10% this year, but I’ve lost 40 pounds of body fat and kept it off. So in my eyes I had some fat loss success in 2009.

OK that’s enough of me babbling on it now time for my weekly weigh in. Having just stepped onto the body fat scales I’ve lost 2 pounds in body weight but my body fat percentage as gone up slightly. This isn’t that bad considering I’ve not been 100% with my diet and exercise this week. The cold England weather is definitely eating into my motivation levels.

I’m finding it harder and harder each exercise session to workout in my cold wooden shed home gym. But I’m wrapping myself up doing a few more warm up sets than usual and getting down to it. My mind is telling me that I’m cold, but my willpower is telling me I need to carry on if I’m to reach my target body fat percentage.  I’ve got a big weekend of Xmas partying planned for next weekend. So If I can do 7 full days of sticking to my diet and exercise plan I should be able to shift a few more pounds of body fat and lower my body fat percentage a little bit more.
