speed up your metabolismWhen you are trying to lose weight and lower your body fat percentage, one of the most important things that you need to do is speed up your metabolism. By speeding it up you are going to burn more calories throughout the day which means you are going to lose more weight. If you stick to a calorie controlled diet and follow a good exercise program.

Let’s look into how you can speed up your metabolism naturally by eating foods that allow this to happen. You can start off by swapping your usual fizzy drinks and caffeine, for green tea. Research has shown by drinking green tea a few times every day your metabolism will rise by at least a few percent. I know this doesn’t sound like much, but you will be surprised how this small increase in your metabolism can dramatically speed up your weight loss progress.

Also you want to be eating foods which are rich in fiber and other very important nutrients.  You will also need to swap your usual three big meals a day to 5 to 6 smaller meals. Try to eat a small meal every two to three hours, this is very important if you are wanting your metabolism to run at it’s optimum speed. If you are leaving big gaps in between each meal, your body will start telling itself it’s in survival mode and will want to hold on to as many calories as it can. Which means that your metabolism will start slowing down.

If you are wanting to lose weight and keep it off having a fast metabolism will allow you to achieve this. Have you never noticed people who crash diet and go on rapid weight loss diets. They lose lots and lots of weight very quickly, most of it being lean muscle mass. Guess what happens when they start eating normal foods again, they put the weight back on and usually they quickly become heavier than before they started. Due to there slow metabolism which was caused by losing lean muscle mass and letting there body go into starvation mode.

The best way to speed up your metabolism is by exercising with weights, not only will you build lean body mass which is very important in obtaining a high metabolic rate. But your metabolism will be elevated for many hours after your workout, which doesn’t usually happen with cardio exercise. Resistance training should be incorporated into your workout program, it doesn’t matter if your a man or a women. Start lifting weight on a regular basis and you will speed up your metabolism and build lean body mass. Which overall means you will start losing more weight.
