Weekly Weigh In September 18th 2009

body fat percentage 22.9%Another good week diet and exercise wise, but I feel like I’ve ate a bit more food this week than usual. But the extra food,as been high quality food like lots of lean meats and plenty of complex carbohydrates. My gym workouts at the moment are very intense and I’m feeling hungry all the time due to this. But I have been drinking lots and lots of water to combat these hungry pangs.

OK having just stepped onto the scales my weight at this weeks weekly weigh is 197.6 pounds with my body fat percentage at the 22.9% mark. This means that my weight as increased slightly but my body fat percentage as dropped slightly by 0.1%. Over the last few weeks I have started training my abs a lot more and I’m definitely feeling a difference in my mid section already.

weekly weigh in sept 18th

My aim now is to keep dropping my body weight till I’m at around 190 pounds, then its a matter of maintaining my body weight whilst dropping body fat. I think I can do this if I put my mind to it. Life at the moment is very busy, so I’ll keep trying to update the blog each week with my weekly weigh In’s. I think all weight loss bloggers, should show their readers there progress on the blog, or whats the point off running one.

Running a blog does take a bit of work, but its well worth it because you feel like you need to keeping moving forward with your fat loss, because you don’t want the world to see you as a failure. This week, I plan on training hard and eating slightly less than I did last week, I’m looking to drop a few pounds in body weight and see a big drop into my body fat percentage. Would like to drop around 1% body fat this week, I know I can do it if I put my mind to it.

I love what you are trying to do, but I think you should focus on one thing at a time. You are trying to lose fat and build muscle at the same time.

Many people believe you can lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Most notably Tim Ferris : http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/06/how-to-lose-20-lbs-of-fat-in-30-days-without-doing-any-exercise/ and http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/29/from-geek-to-freak-how-i-gained-34-lbs-of-muscle-in-4-weeks/

However, I’m not convinced. I think you should focus on losing fat and when you get to your goal body fat percent, then start building muscle.

If your workouts are making you hungry and making you eat too much, you should workout less. When it comes to weight loss and fat loss, calories consumed are more important than calories burned.

My main aim is to lose fat whilst maintaining my body weight. I know this is going to be difficult because it means gaining lean body mass whilst losing fat. In the past I have been able to get leaner, whilst maintaining my weight. So I know I can do it, your right losing fat on its own is much easier, but this means dropping body weight and it’s something I am not wanting to do at this stage on my body fat loss journey.
I’m eating a diet plan which is high in protein and complex carbohydrates and low in fats. The fats I’m eating are healthy fats from oily fish. I’ve managed to maintain my body weight this week whilst losing 0.4% body fat. I know that body fat scales are not 100% accurate, but I really do feel like I’m losing fat whilst maintaining my body weight.
